I recently lost a lot of weight. What plastic surgery procedures can get rid of the extra skin?

Losing weight is a long and difficult process which often results in heavy folds of loose skin being left behind which can make exercise difficult and may hinder further weight loss efforts. Body contouring procedures such as an arm lift, breast augmentation, breast lift, tummy tuck or a thigh lift can tighten loose skin and sculpt a more beautiful, natural body contour.

Is it safe to combine more than one body contouring procedure?

It is not uncommon to combine plastic surgery procedures which can allow for a single recovery period. When performing a tummy tuck it is routinely combined with liposuction, breast augmentation or other breast surgery. Women who want to renew their post pregnancy figures (“the mommy makeover”) benefit from the enhanced results and reduced recovery downtime. This usually results in a safe procedure provided it is performed under ideal surgical conditions which Dr. Cluett will ensure will always be the case.

PATIENT EXPECTATIONS:
It is important for patients to have realistic expectations with regards to their outcomes. Every surgery requires that we work with different body types and not every result will be the same. As well, normal wound healing varies from patient to patient with some healing better than others in terms of the overall result and appearance of the scars. Unfortunately we cannot predict who will be a poor wound healer until after the surgery is complete. In addition, it can take up to two years for scars to fully mature so it is important to have patience during this period of time.
