About

Meet Dr. Cluett

Born and raised in Newfoundland, Dr. Cluett began her undergraduate training at Memorial University as a Science (Biology) Major. After three years of study she was accepted into the Memorial University School of Medicine where she received her M.D. Following medical school Dr. Cluett initially entered into the General Surgery Residency Program at Memorial University’s Faculty of Medicine where after four years of study she recognized her passion for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and changed her career path with a transfer into Dalhousie University’s Plastic Surgery Residency Program. After completion of her residency in Halifax she furthered her specialization with extra training at the University of Toronto and Women’s College in the areas of Breast and Breast Reconstruction. “I love my job! It enables me to be artistic and at the same time challenges me to do better with every case. It is so rewarding to see the difference you can make in someone’s life by simply boosting their self-esteem or simply fixing the smallest problem”.

Since 2001, Dr. Cluett has been employed as an active full-time staff by Eastern Health with over 20 years of practise under her belt. She has maintained privileges at the Health Sciences Centre, St. Clare’s Hospital and the Janeway Children’s Hospital in St. John’s. She holds a part-time academic position with Memorial University’s School of Medicine and a cross appointment with the Cancer Care Program.

Since returning to St. John’s in 2001, Dr. Cluett has enjoyed a thriving practise. She has learned extensively from her practise, patients and work experiences and prides herself on providing patients with the latest techniques currently available. She is constantly trying to improve her surgical results through attending surgical workshops, internships and conferences.

Dr. Cluett’s practise includes treating both men and women attempting to understand all of their unique needs. She has a large female practise being the only female Plastic Surgeon in Newfoundland. “Being a woman enables me to particularly relate to issues concerning their bodies”. She considers herself a caring and compassionate person with her patient’s well-being always being her first choice.

Dr. Cluett has been used as a resource by NTV, CBC Radio and Web and was recently published in a national peer journal due to her experience in the field of breast surgery.

Some consultations will be covered by MCP if you are referred by another physician. If you wish to avoid obtaining a referral it is possible to see Dr. Cluett. This will involve a one-time consultation fee.

Will my treatment be covered by MCP?

If the concern you have is considered “cosmetic” by MCP standards, your treatment will not be covered. Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure if your treatment will be covered, is to see Dr. Cluett in consultation. After assessing your concerns, she will advise you as to whether or not MCP will cover your procedure based on your history as well as your physical problems.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Debit or cash. We are as well associated with Ifinance Medicard which is a company accustomed to financing cosmetic procedures. We will provide you with the necessary contact information so you can further investigate this option if requested.

Why should I choose a Plastic Surgeon for my cosmetic procedure?

A Plastic Surgeon is a surgical specialist who has completed a minimum of 5 years of study and training in plastic surgery after receiving their initial medical degree. This is different from a cosmetic surgeon. Dr. Cluett is the only female plastic surgeon in Newfoundland and Labrador.
