How can I improve my appearance without surgery?
Nonsurgical skin care and facial rejuvenation treatments are considered a steppingstone that can delay the need for surgical intervention. They can also be used to compliment cosmetic surgical procedures. These treatments allow younger patients and sometimes older patients to decrease the signs of aging or delay their onset. These treatments include BOTOX® cosmetic treatments, fillers for facial creases and depressed scars and skin care treatments to improve your skin health. Dr. Cluett can help individualize your injectable or filler treatment to address your aesthetic goals and manage post treatment recovery time as well as find solutions that work within the budget of all clients.
What are BOTOX COSMETIC® treatments? Are they safe?
BOTOX® cosmetic treatments involve injecting a muscle relaxing agent that works by blocking nerve impulses that control muscle contractions. The safety of BOTOX® treatments has been studied for numerous years and research has shown that it is safe when used correctly. BOTOX® injections have been used for more than 20 years in medicine for non-cosmetic purposes including muscle spasms.
Will people notice if I have BOTOX COSMETIC® treatments?
BOTOX® treatments are very popular wrinkle treatments for both men and women to help reduce prominent facial creases quickly with few signs of having had the procedure. Dr. Cluett performs her own Botox injections at her St. John’s aesthetic clinic in order to provide the most natural looking results possible. After your BOTOX® injections you will notice that you look refreshed and rested and not overly tight or frozen. BOTOX® injections are especially effective for softening forehead and frown lines and crow’s feet but they can also be used to control excessive sweating as well as a variety of other medical conditions. The results of BOTOX® treatments usually last between 3-6 months.
An injectable filler is a soft tissue filler injected into the skin to help fill in facial wrinkles, restoring a smoother appearance. Most of these wrinkle fillers are temporary because they are eventually absorbed by the body. Some people may need more than one injection treatment to achieve the wrinkle-smoothing effect.
Non-surgical procedures such as dermal filler injections take place at Dr. Cluett’s Aesthetics Clinic located at 7 Paton Street in St. John’s, where patients will find a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere and expertly trained and knowledgeable staff. Dr. Cluett generally performs her own injections with years of experience perfecting her techniques.

JUVEDERM® is the world’s #1 doctor recommended family of facial fillers used to refresh and enhance your appearance.
As we age, our cells lose the ability to replace a natural sugar in our cells called hyaluronic acid (HA). Because HA delivers nutrients and helps the skin retain moisture, this change causes wrinkles to form, and our faces lose balance, definition, and shape.
The procedure to inject Juvederm usually takes 15 to 60 minutes, with minor discomfort. There’s no downtime required for work purposes however, you may experience some bruising or swelling post injection. No lifting, pushing, or pulling for a couple days post injection is recommended.
What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers like JUVEDERM® are made from hyaluronic acid and are used to add volume to the skin and soft tissues. They are used to restore a youthful facial shape and appearance. These fillers can help with lip enhancement and improvement of deep facial expression lines. Fillers can last anywhere between 6 to 24 months depending on the type of dermal filler used.
